The Downtown Long Beach (DTLB) Design District is eager to announce it’s partnership with The City of Long Beach Mayor’s Office and LA Deisgn Festival, hosting a special screening of Join or Die
Join Or Die:
Featuring the research of Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam, Join or Die examines how participation in local organizations and public spaces fosters deeper community ties—a message that resonates powerfully in today’s social and political climate.
This event will bring together clubs, neighborhood districts, and community organizations from across Long Beach, providing an opportunity for residents to connect, share ideas, and leave inspired to make a difference. Representatives from Long Beach’s neighborhoods will be in attendance to encourage civic engagement at the local level.
Highlights of the DTLB Design District’s/LA Design Festival’s Participation:
As part of LA Design Festival’s Docos on Design Series, this event highlights the intersection of design and civic life. With the festival coming to the Downtown Long Beach Design District this summer, it will showcase the city’s creative talent and reinforce its role as a City of Design.
Opening Reception:
The evening will begin with opening remarks by Mayor Rex Richardson, followed by the screening. After the film, attendees will join local leaders and community advocates for a conversation on ways to strengthen connections across neighborhoods, generations, and backgrounds.
Where will it be located? At what time?
Location: Wednesday, March 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the historic Art Theatre of Long Beach.
